Councillor Catherine McCook
Growing up on a farm just north of Beaumont and graduating high school here has given Catherine McCook a lifetime of memories and friendships based in this growing city. Cathrine and her husband Bob have two beautiful children Sebastian and Danica.
Her family history runs deep in Beaumont. Her grandparents came from the Goudreau and Hinse families who were original settlers of Beaumont and were instrumental in growing the community. Growing up Catherine’s family was involved in building and running the Beaumont Agriculture Grounds, and she is proud to say that at 21 years of age she was the youngest District Commissioner for Clearwater Valley Pony Club, the local Pony Club. It was a great opportunity and responsibility for Catherine to take on a leadership role and work with a variety of partners, volunteers and members to grow their program. She was also a founding member of the Beaumont Horse Trials, served on the committee for several years and coached equestrian for numerous years.
Catherine has both a diploma in Security and Investigations Management and a Bachelor of Professional Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. This led her to a professional career working in both non-profit and private sectors. She has had opportunities to help some of society’s most at-risk citizens, create programs from the ground up, manage a large territory and implement security and loss prevention programs for large corporations. Catherine is currently employed as a Manager in Security and Loss Prevention.
Catherine enjoys getting out to explore our community and enjoy all of what Beaumont has to offer. Some of her hobbies include outdoor activities such as skiing, biking with family, exploring the trails around Beaumont and time with friends. Some of her favourite time is spent at her family’s cabin and camping with her family around Alberta.
