Campaign finances and disclosures
All candidates, including those who have withdrawn, must file Form 26 Campaign Disclosure Statement and Financial Statement and the relevant supporting documents by December 15, 2023.
If you have expenses or contributions of $50,000 or more, file a review engagement by a chartered professional accountant with the disclosure statement. A “review engagement” is defined in the https://open.alberta.ca/publications/c10p2
Submit disclosure statements to the Returning Officer. Original signatures and documents are required to be submitted.

A Third-Party Advertiser is a registered individual, corporation or group who promotes or opposes a municipal or school board candidate through election advertising.
Third Party Advertising Contribution Statement and Election Advertising Return
There are a number of important regulations regarding the disclosure of election advertising contributions and expenses that registered Third Party Advertisers must adhere to in order to satisfy their legislated obligations. These are described in the Local Authorities Election Act in particular Part 8: Third Party Advertising. Third Party Advertising Contribution Statement
Third Party Advertisers who are registered with the City of Beaumont are required by Sections 180(2) and 182(1) of the LAEA to file Form 28:
Third Party Advertisers are encouraged to refer to sections 180 and 182 of the LAEA to review the complete extent of their legislated obligation.
As per section 184 of the LAEA, registered Third Party Advertiser who do not file a completed and signed Form 28 by the legislated deadline must pay a late filing fee of $500.

47(1) To Vote in the City of Beaumont by-election, an individual must be:
- is at least 18 years old;
- is a Canadian citizen; and
- resides in Alberta and the person’s place of residence is in the local jurisdiction on election day.
Voter Identification and Eligibility for Municipal Elections
In order to vote in the 2023 Beaumont by-election, voters are required to provide one piece of identification that establishes both their name and current residential address, as well as make a statement in the presence of an election officer at the voting station.
Any of the following documents containing both your name and address will be accepted as valid proof of identification:
- Photo identification issued by a Canadian government or agency, whether federal, provincial, or local or an agency of that government, that contains a photograph of the elector and their name and current address.
- Bank or credit card statement or personal cheque.
- Government cheque or cheque stub.
- Income or property tax assessment notice.
- Insurance policy or coverage card.
- Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee.
- Pension plan statement of benefits, contributions or participation.
- Residential lease or mortgage statement.
- Statement of government benefits (for example, employment insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support or child tax benefit).
- Utility bill (for example, telephone, public utilities commission, television, hydro, gas or water).
- Vehicle ownership, registration or insurance certificate.
Special Ballots
Special Ballots are available to those that are unable to vote at the Advance Vote or at the voting station on By-election Day due to physical incapacity, absence from the local jurisdiction, being a Returning Officer, Deputy Returning Officer, Constable, Candidate, or Agent.
