The Council of the Town of Beaumont has given first reading to Bylaw 904-18 for Elan Phase 1 that if passed would allow development to proceed on a portion of the SE ¼ Sec. 33-50-24-W4M in the Elan neighbourhood. Elan Phase 1 is being developed by 1662825 AB Ltd. and is located north of 50 Avenue and west of Range Road 243.
The Land Use Bylaw currently designates the area for Elan Phase 1 as AG - Agricultural District in the Rural Service Area. To accommodate Elan Phase 1 the AG - Agricultural District must be amended from AG - Agricultural District to Direct Control District 117 - Elan District (DC 117). The proposed DC 117 –Elan District will accommodate a variety of uses such as parks and a school site, as well as a range of housing types (single detached, duplex, semi-detached, multi-attached, and apartments).

The Public Hearing will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Town of Beaumont Administration Office located at 5600 - 49 Street, Beaumont AB. Procedure at the Public Hearing:
1. Presentation of the purpose and effect of the proposed Bylaw amendment.
2. Council will hear:
a). any person or group of persons acting on his or their behalf who claim to be affected by the proposed Bylaw;
b). any other person who wishes to make a presentation and whom the Council agrees to hear.
All written submissions received by the Supervisor, Legislative Services of the Town of Beaumont on or before noon on September 25, 2018 will be recognized prior to any oral submissions.
