[ARCHIVED] Notice of Public Hearing - Bylaw Number 944-19

Beaumont's Council has given first reading to Bylaw 944-19 to repeal Land Use Bylaw 796-12 and adopt Our Zoning Blueprint - Land Use Bylaw 944-19. Bylaw 944-19 is available for viewing at

The Land Use Bylaw is the regulatory document that implements the policy direction set forth in a municipality's Municipal Development Plan. It is the document which regulates and controls the use and development of land and buildings in the community. Our Zoning Blueprint divides the municipality into specific districts that dictate what uses are permitted and/or discretionary, contains details on how to make applications for development permits; how and by whom decisions on applications are made; and the conditions that can be attached. The Land Use Bylaw also contains regulations regarding setbacks, landscaping, parking, building heights, and signage to name a few.

The proposed Land Use Bylaw 944-19 is intended to provide more flexibility in the mix of uses and development as long as the built form meets the regulations. Design standards have been included that improve walkability of neighbourhoods and the distances people travel to everyday services. Parking requirements have been reduced to better balance the supply and demand of parking to accommodate alternative modes of transportation such as walking and cycling. Signage regulations have been revised for clarity and consistency, and to provide for a fast-track process.

A Public Hearing on Bylaw 944-19 will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Beaumont Administration Office located at 5600 - 49 Street, Beaumont.

  2. Council will hear:

  3. any person or group of persons acting on his or their behalf who claim to be affected by the proposed Bylaw;

  4. any other person who wishes to make a presentation and whom the Council agrees to hear.
