City of Beaumont receiving $164,800 from Alberta Community Transit Fund
The City of Beaumont will be receiving $164,800 from the Alberta Community Transit (ACT) Fund to implement Smart Fare and Smart Bus Technology for Beaumont Transit. On March 7, 2019, 33 municipal projects were selected to receive $215 million in funding to help expand Alberta’s transit system, green Alberta’s transit fleet and increase transit ridership. The Climate Leadership Plan will pay $141.4 million of the funds for this initiative.
"Investing in affordable and modern transit is a good thing for the province and for our region in particular. I’m very proud of the Alberta Community Transit Fund because it is going to help municipalities like Beaumont offer improved transit options to residents so that they can be better connected to the things that matter like their families, schools and jobs” said local MLA and Municipal Affairs Minister Shaye Anderson. The Smart Fare and Smart Bus Technology project was selected based on regional collaboration and its environmental, social and economic benefits.
