Beaumont RCMP looking to reunite stolen property with its owners

Beaumont, Alta. – On March 5, 2019, two males were arrested following complaints of break and enters and thefts.  The males have been linked to several thefts reported in Beaumont. The Beaumont RCMP recovered a large amount of stolen property in the possession of the males and are now looking to return the items.

At 2:43 a.m., a complaint was received that males were breaking into garages and vehicles. A black SUV was reported to be the suspect vehicle involved. Beaumont RCMP located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.  The SUV fled from police and shortly after, at 3:03 a.m., the SUV became stuck in a snow bank where two male occupants ran into a nearby field.  Both males were caught and taken into custody by responding RCMP members.

After being searched subsequent to arrest, one of the males was found to have a can of bear spray in his pants pockets and the other had a knife.

Investigation revealed that the suspect SUV, a black Toyota Highlander, was earlier reported stolen out of Edmonton.  A large amount of stolen property was recovered from within the Highlander.  Recovered property includes: cell phones, computers, binoculars, various watches and sunglasses amongst other items.  This property may belong to residents of Beaumont, or neighbouring communities.

“Making these arrests is a great outcome, and an even better outcome will be to return the stolen property” says Staff Sergeant Jeff Egan, Detachment Commander of Beaumont RCMP Detachment.  “This is a timely reminder to Beaumont residents to lock your vehicles, remove valuables, and keep garage door openers out of sight.”
