This week, the provincial government announced that Alberta can safely proceed with the second stage of reopenings. The City of Beaumont is encouraged by this news and we are working through updated health requirements as they are provided by the province to look at opportunities to further open our recreation sites to residents and organized sports.
We want residents to go out and enjoy our community, but we also have to consider the practical realities of public health and safety requirements. Some of the new requirements from the provincial government, including cleaning and sterilization processes and limits on the number of people allowed together indoors, means openings will likely be phased in over time.
We’re still analyzing information from the Alberta government as we receive it, along with the time and cost to put health measures in place. Our parks and trails are open to the public, and sports fields, tennis courts and most other outdoor recreation sites are open for general use. Visit our website for the latest information on city amenities and health guidelines.
We will continue to share more information as it becomes available and thank Beaumont residents for their patience and understanding as we work to reopen services and facilities safely and responsibly.
