“This morning’s news put an end to our hopes and confirmed the worst fears of many in our community – RCMP confirmed the recovery of the body of a Beaumont woman who had been missing for several days.
“Treasa Lynn Oberly resided in Beaumont, and our thoughts and condolences are with the family. We’re a tight-knit community and we mourn the loss of one of our residents together.
“RCMP also confirmed that a suspect is in custody and charged with second-degree murder. While Beaumont remains a safe place to live and work, this is a sad reminder that violence can affect even our community. I thank the RCMP for their swift investigation leading to charges.
“Investigators ask anyone with information about the case to contact Beaumont RCMP at 780-929-7410. Those who want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS using www.crimestoppers.ab.ca for instructions.
“Supports, including mental health counselling, for people experiencing violence or trauma are available. For residents, please reach out to our team with Beaumont’s Family and Community Support Services at 780-929-1006 or firstname.lastname@example.org to access support and resources.
“On behalf of Beaumont City Council, our Administration, and our community, I extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Oberly.”
