Municipal Election Results for Beaumont

Beaumont, AB – The results of the October 16, 2017 municipal election in Beaumont became official today. John Stewart has been elected to the position of mayor. Stewart previously served a term as councilor in Beaumont from 2010 to 2013. He will be joined by six councillors: (alphabetically) Kathy Barnhart (incumbent), Bill Daneluik, Perry Hendriks (incumbent), Sam Munckhof-Swain, Sabrina Powers and Martin Stout. The elected officials represent all residents as Beaumont does not use the ward system.

“Beaumont had a great turnout with over 40 per cent of eligible voters casting ballots,” said Rhonda West, Returning Officer for Beaumont. “In total, 4,413 voters out of approximately 11,000 eligible voters cast ballots.”

The community had six mayoral candidates in the race, and 20 council candidates vying for six positions. Two candidates ran for the position of Public school board trustee and two candidates ran for the Catholic School board trustee position. Results of the trustee elections are available from the school boards.
