****Update: Positive outcome. The area has been cleared (all school children returned to parents) and the person in question is in RCMP custody.

April 23, 2018

Beaumont RCMP – heavy police presence in Beauridge neighbourhood Beaumont, Alberta – The RCMP are responding to a call of a disturbance involving firearms in a residence in the Beauridge neighbourhood.  There is a heavy police presence including the Beaumont RCMP, Leduc RCMP and the Emergency Response Team.  This situation is being contained.
Academie Saint-Andre Academy, Dansereau Meadows School and FCSS are all currently in a “hold and secure” which means that the students and staff will remain in the school until the situation has been resolved by the police.  

The schools have communicated this information to the parents.  The schools have requested that the media not contact them during this incident in an effort to keep their phone lines free.
The RCMP have responded with a large presence to ensure that no one in the public is put at risk as a result of this incident.  The public and media are asked to avoid this neighbourhood and to avoid publicizing any police activities.
An update will be provided when available.
