How every Beaumont resident can help prevent family violence.
In recognition of Family Violence Prevention Month, join us for an evening dedicated to raising awareness and fostering community engagement in preventing family violence. This event will feature presentations from local experts, refreshments, and a screening of the local documentary, Boys Will Be…Themselves (If We Let Them).
Drawing from over 70 interviews with a diverse group of people from across Canada, this 44 minute documentary is a strong, sensitive look at the way cultural attitudes and approaches to masculinity are evolving and changing in the 21st Century.
Following the screening, we’ll engage in a thoughtful discussion with local experts and filmmaker Dylan Rhys Howard. Together, we’ll explore the proactive roles that men and boys can take in fostering a culture of respect and understanding. We’ll delve into the conversation around masculinity and how these insights can empower men and boys to harness their natural instincts to protect, teach, mentor, and advocate for healthy relationships within their families and communities.
This event is open to all Beaumont residents; however, the subject matter of the evening may not be suitable for residents under 12 years old. For more information, contact FCSS@beaumont.ab.ca.
