Do you know a hard-working volunteer who deserves to be celebrated? Nominate them for the Philip Ki Joon Oh Volunteer of the Year Award or the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award! Nominations typically close in March.

The Philip Ki Joon Oh Foundation recognizes a volunteer or not-for-profit organization that has made a significant voluntary contribution(s) to the City of Beaumont in the last year, as well as a youth volunteer (aged 12-17 years).

Philip Ki Joon Oh Volunteer of the Year

The award itself consists of the following:

  • $2,000 cash award to the Individual recipient and $1,000 cash award to be given to the recipient’s choice of Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) registered charities and other qualified donees. Find a charity or other qualified donee, their current status and any available public information. – or – 
  • $2,000 cash award to a group /organization recipient
  • Personalized certificate
  • An engraved plaque will also be presented but will hang on display in the Beaumont Community Centre.

Youth Volunteer (aged 12-17 years)

The award itself consists of:

  • $500 cash award to the recipient
  • Personalized certificate
  • An engraved plaque will also be presented but will hang on display in the Chantal Bérubé Youth Centre.

Nomination criteria and process

Each nomination for the individual/group should meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a Beaumont resident, group, or organization that benefits Beaumont
  2. Made a significant contribution to support & improve the community/quality of life
  3. Proven to be consistent and reliable and a good role model

The nominator is responsible for submitting a complete application with all the relevant details along with letters of support. Consideration may be given to the number of volunteer groups involved in, number of volunteer hours and years of volunteer service.

Note: While an individual can be nominated more than once, this award can be won only one time. Submitted nomination forms will be retained by FCSS for award consideration for the following year. Nominators may update original submissions with additional information by contacting FCSS.

 

Selection committee

The Selection Committee will be comprised of the Mayor, Community & Social Development Director, the FCSS and Social Development Supervisor and two PKJO Foundation Directors.

Recipients will be announced at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Night.
