Home & Neighbourhood Commuting & Public Transit Recreational Vehicle Parking & Storage
Recreational vehicle (RV) owners are responsible for following the City’s bylaws when parking or storing their RV within Beaumont. Bylaws provide common sense rules for public safety and the consideration of neighbours.
Improperly parked RVs can obstruct sidewalks, making it difficult or unsafe for residents to get around their neighbourhood. They can also create a traffic hazard by blocking drivers’ sightlines or making it difficult to clear roads during the winter.
Residents of Beaumont must ensure the storage of their RV follows the city’s Land Use Bylaw and the Traffic Safety Bylaw. These bylaws establish:
These bylaws apply to RVs, campers, trailers, and off-highway vehicles. (Please note that off-highway vehicles, e.g. quads, snowmobiles, and dirt bikes, cannot be parked on the street.)
An RV or trailer can be parked on private property when it is:

An RV cannot be parked on the street:
Trailers must be attached to a vehicle if parked on the street.
You can park your RV on your lot when it is being actively loaded or unloaded, but you must store it elsewhere if it cannot be parked according to the City’s bylaws. There are several RV storage facilities around Beaumont where your RV can be stored legally for extended periods.
Too many hard surfaces in a neighbourhood can cause flooding because water won’t drain naturally into the ground. Additionally, hard surfaces become heat islands in hot weather and can create higher temperatures in urban areas.
Driveway sizes are limited to leave room for municipal infrastructure such as street lights and fire hydrants. Wide driveways also leave less room for street parking and less space for shovelled snow in the winter.
Additional or expanded access points to a parking pad on your property may create conflicts with traffic and pedestrian safety, depending on their location. Permits are required for additional access. Contact development@beaumont.ab.ca for more information.
