To facilitate repairs on the water main serving Beaumont, the City is implementing a mandatory water ban for municipal operations and voluntary restrictions for residents to reduce non-essential water use, effective July 22, 2024.

Good Neighbour Recognition

Do you have someone in your neighbourhood who is always lending a helping hand? It’s time to recognize those good neighbours!

Did you know?

Beaumont’s Good Neighbour program aims to recognize those individuals who contribute to a safe, connected and friendly community.

Do you have someone in your neighbourhood who always voluntarily shovels your walk, helps you carry in your groceries, or organizes neighbourhood events? If so, we encourage you to nominate your fellow neighbours who:

  • Model community spirit
  • Help in times of need
  • Improve feeling of safety and security
  • Encourage fellow neighbours to get together and connect

This program recognizes two individuals each year: one mid-year and another towards the end of the year. Each recipient of the Good Neighbour award will receive:

  • A congratulatory letter and certificate signed by the Mayor
  • $100 gift card to a local business – your choice!
  • A feature in the Beaumont News and City of Beaumont website

“Debbie and Greg are not only great neighbors; they have also become wonderful friends. Living far from our grandparents, they show immense love and care for my three children, readily stepping in whenever I need assistance. They are always available to look after our property when we are away, taking care of tasks such as cutting the lawn, watering the flowers and plants, and even clearing snow.

I can always count on Greg to lend a tool whenever I need one, and he has consistently assisted with various DIY projects, including installing faucets for us. Greg’s willingness to help extends beyond our household; he readily assists anyone on our street, from car trouble to bicycle repairs.

Debbie frequently bakes and shares her delicious treats with all of us. Both Debbie and Greg are quick to help out with our dog when we find ourselves in a tight spot. With my husband often working away, I am grateful to have them as a reliable source of support. I appreciate their kindness and enjoy their company, especially after a long day, when we can unwind together on the deck with a margarita. They are literally the best neighbours ever! We struck gold when we moved next door to them.”

“From the moment Janet and her family moved to our street, they have been friendly to everyone. They are never shy to help, whether it’s shoveling, mowing, or sharing their homegrown veggies, and the list goes on. As a street and neighbourhood, I’m sure everyone would agree on how amazing this family is. On a personal level, they have gone above and beyond to help my family, especially as we deal with health issues with my youngest child. They offer to get groceries, pick up my children from school, walk our dog, and more. These fine people have hearts of gold and are a true example of what a ‘neighbour’ should be.”

“Jory is an amazing neighbor, one who exemplifies all of the above. Not only is he a volunteer fire fighter for the City of Beaumont, he is also very involved with his son’s hockey team. Both of these put him out and about in the community helping out. Jory is the same way in the cul de sac as well – always one of the first ones to offer help to anyone who needs it. He is also the unofficial welcoming committee, ensuring that everyone who moves into our cul de sac feels immediately welcomed and included. No matter the season, he lets all the kids into his backyard to play, and is always a favorite of the kids who love to say hello to him. No matter what, Jory always makes time to talk to them.

Never leaving the adults out, he often initiates summer pot lucks between all the houses and hosts them as well. Just seeing Jory outside is usually enough to get others out of their houses for a visit and a drink. I can safely say Jory is someone who our cul de sac revolves around, and without him, it wouldn’t be quite as amazing as it is.”
