Utilities

The City of Beaumont does not provide natural gas or electricity. You will need to set up separate accounts with a third party for those services. See the Utilities Consumer Advocate site for providers.

All properties within Beaumont are billed for water and wastewater (sewer) services. Residential properties (excluding multi-family properties, rental buildings) are also billed for curbside garbage, organics and recycling collection. Renters will need to pay City utilities through the property owner, as only Titled Owners can set up utility accounts.

Payments

Your utility bill consists of the following:

  • Water: flat meter rate (based on the size of your water meter) plus a variable fee based on consumption
  • Sewer treatment: a flat fee plus a variable fee based on consumption
  • Curbside collection: a flat fee

The City bills every 2 months and mails them out in: January, March, May, July, September, November.

Late penalties

It’s your responsibility to pay on time to avoid penalties. If you haven’t received your utility bill, please contact Beaumont’s Administration Office to get a copy.

The penalty is 2.6%, which is applied the next business day after the due date identified on the utility bill. After 90 days of an overdue account, the owner will receive a letter notifying them that the outstanding balance (plus a $25 fee) will be added to their property tax bill.

*Review the City of Beaumont’s Fees and Charges Bylaw [pdf] for more on this year’s utility fees and charges. Fees and penalties are subject to change.

Other utility regulations

In addition to the above fees and charges, there are additional regulations, which have been established by Beaumont with regards to operating its water and wastewater operations. This information can be found in the Beaumont’s Surface Drainage Bylaw (732-08). We also offer a number of water conservation tips.
