Cart placement

Front street collection

  • Place your cart on the street either in front of the sidewalk or in front of your driveway. The wheels must be touching the edge of the gutter with the cart facing forward, away from your home.
  • Leave 1 meter of space between carts, blue bags and parked vehicles. In some cul-de-sacs, this distance may need to be increased to accommodate the turning radius of the collection truck.
  • Place your blue bags on the boulevard or street so that they are easily accessible for the collection team.
  • All carts and blue bags must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Cart lids must be closed completely or else they may not be collected.
  • Report any missed or damaged carts as soon as possible following your collection day.

Back lane collection

  • Place your cart at the edge of the lane on the driveway or parking pad with blue bags 1 meter away from the carts.
  • Keep at least 1 meter clear on all sides of the carts, and above them.

Missed collections

Residents must notify Waste Management waste@beaumont.ab.ca or 780-929-4306 within 48 hours of missed collection.

In your email or phone message, please include the following:

  • Residential address
  • Type of waste missed (Blue bag recycling, Organics or Grey Waste)
  • Confirm that your cart(s) and/or blue bag is at your curbside for re-collection

Additional recommendations

Place carts and blue bags out the night before your scheduled collection day. If you have large boxes to recycling, break them down and place them under your blue bags at the curb.

To maintain a clear and safe environment for all, we kindly request that residents promptly remove their garbage carts from the streets once the garbage collection has been completed, or, at the latest, before the end of the designated garbage collection day.

This request primarily applies to homes located within restricted parking zones such as:

  • Disabled parking zones,
  • Seasonal parking zones,
  • No parking zone and
  • Loading zones.

Frequently asked questions

The most common reason for carts not being emptied was they were not at the curb by 7 am. Other common reasons include that carts were left in the wrong place for pickup, waste was put in the organics (green) cart, cart lids were not fully closed or a vehicle was parked too close to the cart. The trucks require 1m around your cart to be free from bags, parked cars, etc.

If you believe you followed correct procedures, call the City of Beaumont at 780-929-4306 within two business days of the missed collection to inquire.

You must register for utilities with the City either in person at Beaumont’s Administration Office (5600 49 Street) or online.

Once you sign up, our Utility Billing Division will advise us and we will have the carts delivered to your home.

You can divert more waste from your waste cart by increasing composting and recycling. Make the diapers as small as possible when disposing. There are products on the market, such as a diaper bin, that compress diapers.

From May to October green carts (organics) are emptied weekly, and from November to April they are collected every 2 weeks.
