Posted on: November 22, 2022 For the week of November 14 through November 20, 2022, the Beaumont RCMP responded to 44 calls for service. Some of the calls for service included animal calls, breach of peace, Child Welfare Act, criminal harassment, disturbing the peace, hit and runs, false alarms, fraud, Mental Health Act, mischief – damage to property, suspicious person/vehicle/property, traffic collisions, and wellbeing checks. The Beaumont RCMP conducted 27 traffic stops, resulting in 15 warnings and two violation tickets under the Traffic Safety Act. Family Violence Prevention Month November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta, which is a time to increase awareness about family violence. There are many different forms of abuse, such as physical, sexual, emotional/psychosocial, financial, and neglect. It is important that we all do our part to recognize the warning signs of family violence, which can include: unexplained bruises; acting differently around a partner; withdrawing from family/friends; changes in behaviour; and being frequently contacted at work (someone wanting to know what the victim is doing or where they are, etc.). It is important to always create a safety plan, as this could help you or your family mitigate potential risks. A good safety plan could include: creating a code word with friends/family; preparing an emergency bag; keeping important documents in a safe place where you can grab them quickly; and planning a safe place you could go in case of an emergency. There are several different supports if you are a victim/survivor of domestic violence, such as: the local crisis line (310-1818); emergency shelters; Leduc & Region Victim Services; Beaumont FCSS; and many more resources on this City of Beaumont webpage.
