Posted on: September 18, 2023 For the week of September 11, 2023 through to September 17, 2023 the Beaumont RCMP responded to 59 calls for service. Some of the calls for service included; 911 Act, assault, assistance to general public, breach of the peace, break and enter, Cannabis Act, Coroner’s Act, distribute intimate images, Firearms Act, fraud, lost property, liquor offences, mischief, traffic violations, missing persons, sexual assault, theft, traffic collisions, wellbeing checks and uttering threats. The Beaumont RCMP conducted 17 traffic stops, resulting in 4 violation tickets and 3 warnings issued under the Traffic Safety Act. On Friday, September 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Beaumont RCMP are inviting all children and youth to come down to the Gerry Patsula Lion Campground (picnic area) to chat with police, see the police car and get a treat. Beaumont RCMP will also be conducting an end-of-summer positive ticketing draw that day, where one lucky winner will receive a prize! Beaumont RCMP would like to remind citizens about the rules of the road when it comes to crosswalks. Failing to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk results in an $810.00 fine plus demerits. Pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk unless it is controlled by a traffic control device or traffic is being directed by a flag person. In such cases, the pedestrian has the right of way when directed by the control person or the device. As a driver, it is important to remember to wait until the pedestrian has fully crossed the roadway before proceeding. As a pedestrian, it is important to stop before walking onto the roadway, make eye contact with the drivers if possible, and avoid being distracted (such as using a phone) while crossing the road.
