“Today, we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned home. It is a solemn reminder of the legacy of residential schools and the lasting impact they have on Indigenous communities across Canada.

This day is an opportunity for us all to deepen our understanding of the historical and ongoing injustices faced by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, and to reaffirm our commitment to the ongoing journey of reconciliation. Beaumont stands with Indigenous communities as we reflect on this important part of our history and work towards healing.

I encourage everyone in Beaumont to take time today to listen, learn, and engage with the stories, cultures, and experiences of Indigenous peoples. By doing so, we can build stronger relationships and work toward a future rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and healing.”
