Posted on: October 28, 2022 Council approved a new bylaw this week to help make sure Beaumont continues to be a safe, clean, welcoming, and inclusive community. The Community Standards Bylaw simplifies and consolidates existing regulations about issues like construction waste, noise control and public behaviour, while adding new sections to address common concerns from residents. “Beaumont is the safest city in Alberta, and residents really value our community’s unique charm and character,” said Mayor Bill Daneluik. “The new bylaw provides clear guidelines for being a good neighbour, addresses many of the issues we hear from residents, and helps protect the things that make Beaumont so special.” The new bylaw also repeals and replaces five other bylaws: the Noise Abatement Bylaw, Cannabis Consumption Bylaw, Nuisance and Unsightly Premises Bylaw, Smoke-Free Public Places Bylaw, and Snow Removal Bylaw. City of Beaumont Community Peace Officers generally use education in response to bylaw complaints and provide a warning for first instances. However, they have the discretion to issue fines for serious or repeated violations. “This bylaw provides transparent, enforceable rules for residents, businesses, developers, and municipal enforcement officers, so everyone knows what to expect,” says Jay Melvin, Director, Protective Services.
