“Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to recognize and celebrate the rich history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in Canada. This day is an opportunity for us all to expand our understanding of Indigenous communities and their significant contributions to our country’s history and development.

Beaumont is committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment for everyone and recognizing National Indigenous Peoples Day is a vital part of our ongoing efforts. While this day is a celebration, it is also a time to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and the steps we can take to support and engage with Indigenous communities.

I encourage everyone to take some time this weekend to learn about Indigenous histories and cultures. By doing so, we can honour Indigenous friends, neighbours, and residents of Beaumont, and work towards a more inclusive and compassionate community.”
