“Today, on December 3, we join communities around the globe in recognizing International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). This day is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of persons with disabilities, and to reaffirm our commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and belonging for all.

More than 1.3 billion people—16 per cent of the global population—experience some form of disability. IDPD reminds us of the ongoing need to advocate for the rights, well-being, and empowerment of persons with disabilities, while addressing barriers that hinder full participation in society.

In Beaumont, we are proud to celebrate the richness that diversity brings to our community. We are dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can access opportunities and thrive in an inclusive environment. Recognizing IDPD is one of the many ways we commit to promoting equity and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and supported.

I encourage everyone to take a moment today to learn more about the experiences and contributions of persons with disabilities. By doing so, we can help break down barriers, build understanding, and create a community where everyone feels valued and supported.”
