The City of Beaumont is partnering with Strathcona County Community Mediation to offer resources and services that aid residents in the resolution of disputes.

The Strathcona County-based not-for-profit organization is now offering services in Beaumont with professionally trained mediators available at no cost to residents. The City has also added tips on its website for healthy communication and how to diffuse anger so that residents may resolve conflicts more effectively on their own.

“Beaumont is a friendly, close-knit community, but differences of opinion happen and sometimes turn into a conflict. One of your Council’s priorities is making sure we remain a warm, neighbourly place to live even as our population continues to grow,” said Mayor Bill Daneluik.

“The resources and services available from our partnership with Strathcona County Community Mediation give people the option to resolve conflict in a safe way with the help of a neutral party. For more serious situations, the City’s Municipal Enforcement team and Beaumont RCMP remain available, especially when laws may have been broken or public safety is a concern.”

Residents can contact Strathcona County Community Mediation (SCCM) directly to find out how they may be able to assist with navigating a dispute. SCCM has resources to help with:

  • Neighbourhood disputes, including concerns with pets, noise, parking, property boundaries, trees, and fences.
  • Family conflicts, such as aging parents, communication within families, living together, relationship repair, and responsibilities.
  • Community organizations, including not-for-profits, condominium associations, sports organizations, and volunteer groups.

This initiative aims to strengthen neighbourly relationships and promote a collaborative community where all residents can feel at home. More information can be found on the websites for the City of Beaumont and Strathcona County Community Mediation.
