Snowshoeing tips

We recommend snowshoeing at Parc Quatre Saisons/Four Seasons Park.

Other local options for beginners to get the hang of it are:

  • the West Recreation Site
  • soccer fields like Parc Canale Leblanc
  • Promenade Park
  • Montalet Park

Plan a larger snowshoe adventure at Elk Island National Park (about a 45 minute drive), the Strathcona Wilderness Centre (about a 40 minute drive) or Edmonton’s parks and river valley.

Layers! As this is an aerobic activity it is common to get warm quickly. Dressing for the winter weather is the ideal way to snowshoe comfortably. Sturdy water-resistant winter or hiking boots are best.
